Equip

While we know that we have much to learn, it is our prayer that we may be a part of encouraging others to be equipped to share their faith and proclaim the glorious gospel of Jesus! So here we will post some resources and tips that have been helpful as we seek to be more effective in the work of the Lord.

It is our conviction that the biblical evangelism should flow out of the life of the local body and so we encourage you to find a body of believers with whom you can serve, worship, pray and grow with.  If you live in Northern Alberta we would love to have you come and fellowship with us.  I (Aaron) am a pastor/elder at Fairview Cornerstone Baptist church, and Mike is a member of Coram Deo Baptist church in Grande Prairie.

Here is a great video thinking through street preaching/evangelism by “I’ll Be Honest”. There are many potential pitfalls that we can get caught in when seeking to do this type of evangelism and found this video very helpful in thinking through some of these issue in light of God’s Word.

LOOKING TO DIG IN DEEPER?

While we are still developing our resources on this website, there are several great places to go in order the further sharpen your spiritual gifts and most of all kindle your own affections for Jesus, from which all gifts and efforts must flow.  Here are a few that have blessed us…

#1 Check out a great online school for a awesome price!

If you are looking to grow in your understanding of Theology, or Apologetics or even critical thinking and would like some structure and guidance to get started in the right direction a great resource on-line is through www.CARM.org.  I am personally working through the school on apologetics and have already been very blessed and informed in the area of apologetics.  Matt Slick only asks 30 dollars per school and I think it’s true, if you spend even a small amount of money on something you are more likely to take it seriously!  Not to mention that for $30 Matt is basically giving away a great tool that he has invested hours and hours into.  So this is one great tool that we encourage others to check out.

#2 Take advantage of social media/youtube to watch and learn!

While there are many pitfalls and snares to be aware of with the advent of all our modern technology, I would argue that there are also some blessing we receive through it.  Namely, we have instant access to teaching from the world finest preachers and evangelists and therefore, we have no excuse to not be growing in the Lord through such men and women.  I can push a button on my phone and in a matter of moments be listening to historical preachers like Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones, or even more modern day preachers such as Paul Washer, John Piper or Voddie Baucham to name a few.  While there are countless great resources we could potentially point you to in regards to growing, here are a few in regards to evangelism and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.  As we have listened to and watched these men, the Lord has continued to teach and mould us in the way we approach proclaiming the gospel of Kingdom.

#3 RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO GIVE PEOPLE THE “FLU SHOT” WHEN PRESENTING CHRIST!!!

# 4  Be A Soldier of Prayer

It is an amazing privilege that we have to come before the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16), and trust that we will find mercy because of what Jesus accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection.  On the morning of His rising from the grave we are told that the temple curtain was ripped from top to bottom (Mt. 27:51), indicating that we no longer have to go through a priest and animal sacrifices, but now we each stand as priests in a kingdom of priests.  May we not take such a privilege and responsibility lightly nor flippantly, but gives ourselves to the work of prayer.  I have found it a tremendous blessing to commit to prayer with several brothers in Christ and together spur one another on in this difficult and yet profound work.  Truly we are never more like Jesus than when we give ourselves to pray.  I trust this sermon by Platt will aid in fueling your desire for prayer.

#5 Stock Up On Good Gospel Tracts

Paul the apostle writes in Romans 1:15-17 “So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are Rome for I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also the the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.'”

When you begin to realize that the gospel is the power of God and not our winsomeness, our cleaver presentation, or our 5 steps to leading someone to the Lord, it is then that we really begin to understand the work of evangelism. As I understand it, it is a its core simply using any means possible to get the truth of the gospel into the ears and minds of all people.  Therefore, a gospel tract is a powerful tool as it can go home with someone, be picked up by a passer by, or even distributed through quick means of communication like social media.  While it is not the only means of spreading the gospel message, it is one that every evangelist should utilize.  Below are some of my favourite sources to get good biblical tracts at an affordable rate.
